Two Stabbed at Apartment Complex Near Frostburg State University

Two 19-year-old men were stabbed over the weekend at an apartment complex near Frostburg State University.

The men were stabbed early Sunday morning. Police say both are expected to survive.

Frostburg City Police believe the violence stemmed from an altercation between students at Frostburg State and from Allegany College of Maryland, a community college in nearby Cumberland, according to a police statement Sunday.

However, Frostburg Police Chief Royce Douty said Monday he's unaware of any tensions between those student groups.

Douty said many Allegany College students live in Frostburg. He said some students at the schools knew each other before coming to western Maryland, and they sometimes meet at parties where alcohol abuse leads to violence.

Frostburg State confirms that one of the victims is a student there.
