Two People Killed After SUV Hits Tree in Montgomery County

Two people were killed early Sunday morning after a crash in Montgomery County.

Police said an SUV traveling north on Woodfield Road in Gaithersburg left the road and hit a tree. Police said the vehicle overturned before coming to a rest.

Investigators said the driver and the front-seat passenger were pronounced dead at the scene. The rear-seat passenger was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The driver is being identified as Thomas Christopher Collier, age 32, from Gaithersburg. The front-seat passenger is being identified as Daniel Lee Byron, age 26, also from Gaithersburg.

The rear-seat passenger, who was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, is being identified as Kobi Assaraf, age 26, from Rockville.

The circumstances of this collision remain under investigation.
