A daughter shot and killed her mother before killing herself inside a McLean home Friday, police say.
Officers went to the home in the 6700 block of Dean Drive after a caller reported someone in the home might have been killed. They found two bodies inside the home.
Investigators said 23-year-old Helen Lorena Hargan shot her mother, 63-year-old Pamela Denise Hansen Hargan, and then shot herself. Both women were pronounced dead at the scene.
Detectives said a child, 7, was not at home at the time of the incident and is safe. They said all of the family dogs have been accounted for.
The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner will conduct autopsies and make the official determination of the cause and manner of death.
