2 Men Killed in Northeast DC Triple Shooting

Police say a third man was found shot in the leg nearby

Two men were shot dead Thursday night in Northeast D.C., police say.

Police Chief Peter Newsham said officers responded to the shooting near Deanwood Recreation Center and Ron Brown High School about 8:15 p.m.

They found the two men with multiple gunshot wounds in the stairwell of an apartment building in the 4900 block of Nash Street NE, Newsham said.

Police said the victims were 23-year-old Jobe McDowney, of Southeast D.C., and 21-year-old Desmond Richardson, of Temple Hills, Maryland.

Officers found another man shot in the leg nearby inside a car that crashed in the 900 block of 44th Street NE, police said. Medics took him to a hospital for treatment.

"Obviously, this is senseless gun violence," Mayor Muriel Bowswer said. "We do know that we have two lives snuffed out. And we want the public, if they heard anything, if they know anything to please share that information with MPD."
