Two Convicted in Gang Shooting Near D.C. Festival

Two men have been convicted of first-degree murder in a gang-related shootout that killed a bystander near a Washington street festival.

A D.C. Superior Court jury on Friday found 22-year-old Deonte Bryant and 21-year-old Terrance Bush guilty in the shooting death of 43-year-old Robert Foster Jr. on June 25, 2011.

Federal prosecutors say Bryant and Bush provoked and participated in a shootout with a rival gang member. Prosecutors say the rival was wounded along with three bystanders, one of whom was Foster.

The shooting took place near the city's Caribbean Festival, but police said the violence had nothing to do with the festival itself.

Attorneys for Bryant and Bush did not immediately return messages seeking comment.
