1-Year-Old Struck, Killed by Truck in Prince George's County

Boy's father suffered serious injuries

A 1-year-old boy died after a truck struck him and his father in Temple Hills, Md.

Sherrik Farmer's father was pushing him in a stroller in the 5100 block of St. Barnabas Road when the driver of a pickup truck apparently lost control and drove up onto the sidewalk, reported News4 Prince George's County Bureau Chief Tracee Wilkins.

"I'm sad. That's terrible, oh my lord," said Temple Hills resident Margaret Hawkins, who called 911 after the crash happened just outside her home.

The victims were walking with the boy's mother, who was not injured. However, the mother was treated for shock, said the Prince George's County Fire Department.

The father was taken to a hospital with a broken leg.

"It's terrible. I don't know what happened. I just saw the truck go off the road," a witness said.

The driver remained at the scene. Witnesses said driver wasn't speeding and didn't appear to be under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
