Witnesses told investigators, Edward Manners, Jr., 44, started fighting with Michael Ramsey, 43 on the side of the road. Then, witnesses said they saw Manners hit Ramsey in the head with a wooden club.

When troopers showed up, they took Manners to jail and rescuers took Ramsey to the hospital.
