AAA Warns of High Gas Prices for Holidays

National average gas prices 58 cents more than last year

Triple A Mid-Atlantic Triple A said it's not too early to think about Thanksgiving and the price of holiday travel. The auto club said the price of gasoline is likely to be significantly higher than last year during the holidays.

Triple A said the national average price of fuel is 58 cents higher than one year ago, and it forecasts a price of about $3.40 per gallon when Thanksgiving rolls around.

The cost of gas last Thanksgiving was $2.87 per gallon nationally.

In Virginia, fuel averages are a bit lower than the national average. The average price of a gallon last week was $3.29 in the state. That's still half a dollar more than last year.
