Triangle Doctor Arrested in Cash for Oxycontin Business

73-year-old doctor held without bond

Prince William County police busted four people in connection to an illegal Oxycontin distribution business.

Investigators said that Dr. Alex Yadao, 73, who operates a medical practice in Triangle, took cash to sell thousands of pills a week to customers without prescriptions.

He is charged with multiple counts of prescription fraud and distribution of a narcotic.

Police said in addition to the Oxycontin, Yadao peddled morphine and Oxycodone in the apartment below his office at 18700 Old Triangle Road.  Law enforcement said that Dr. Yadao, who lives in Alexandria, was responsible for putting 8,000 pain medication pills on the street each week.

A man who lived in the basement apartment below Yadao's office was also arrested in the investigation.  Investigators said Keith Wayne, 53, was an accomplice in Dr. Yadao's illegal drug distribution business.  He is charged with distribution of a narcotic, conspiracy to violate the drug act, and possession of a narcotic.

Two of the doctor's customers, Paul and Bonnie Phillips, of Midland, were also snared in the bust.  Those two were charged with prescription fraud and possession of a controlled substance.

Dr. Yadao and Keith Payne are both being held without bond.
