An FBI agent who told police he fatally shot his estranged wife in their Stafford County home is set to go on trial later this year.
A five-day jury trial is scheduled to begin Oct. 16 in Stafford Circuit Court in the case against 43-year-old Arthur Gonzales.
Gonzales is charged with second-degree murder and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony in the April 19 shooting death of 42-year-old Julie Serna Gonzales.
During a recorded 911 call, Gonzales told the dispatcher his wife attacked him with a knife and that he had to shoot her.
The Free Lance-Star reports that Gonzales has been working as a supervisory special agent and instructor at the bureau's National Academy at Quantico.
