Traveling For Thanksgiving? Book Now

We may be just be past Labor Day, but have you thought about Thanksgiving travel? AAA says now is the time to book your flight.

With airlines reducing the number of flights and flying smaller planes, AAA recommends booking your flight at least 10 to 12 weeks before the holiday.

Last year nearly 75,000 air travelers from the Washington area flew during the Thanksgiving holiday. Travel-planning website FareCompare.com says this year's ticket prices for Thanksgiving travel will be up about 1 percent compared to last year.

It says Thanksgiving is traditionally the most expensive holiday to fly.

So what are the cheapest days to fly?

According to FareCompare, the Monday before Thanksgiving -- Nov. 25 -- and Saturday, Nov. 30 or Monday, Dec. 2, after Thanksgiving.
