Man Sentenced to 12 Years in Sword Slaying

A man convicted of fatally stabbing another man with a sword drawn from a walking cane after a dispute over a football bet has been sentenced to 12 years in prison.

Todd Marrow, 47, had been convicted in July of second-degree murder in the death of 47-year-old Orville Chamblee in Baltimore.

Prosecutors say in February 2012, Marrow had refused to pay Chamblee after a bet, and believed that Chamblee had slashed his car's tires.

Marrow attacked Chamblee with the sword that had been hidden in the cane, stabbing Chamblee in the thigh, authorities said.

The sword lacerated a mayor vein and artery, and Chamblee died at Shock Trauma.

At his sentencing Friday, Marrow was also ordered to serve three years of probation upon his release.
