Richmond, Va. -- The three-way Virginia Democratic gubernatorial derby took on a more jagged edge in speeches to thousands of party activists at a gala dinner.
Former Democratic national chairman Terry McAuliffe used his fundraising advantage to cover downtown streets with campaign signs and hired a brass band to serenade a rally.
He limited his attacks Saturday to Republican Bob McDonnell. So did state Sen. Creigh Deeds, who came 323 votes short of beating McDonnell in the 2005 attorney general race.
Brian Moran, however, turned his sights on McAuliffe, accusing him of attempting to buy the election.
Moran says the party has to decide whether it will be dominated by big money.
