Third Case of Swine Flu Confirmed in Va.

Washington and Lee U. student has the disease

State health officials say they have confirmed that one of two Washington and Lee University students suspected of contracting swine flu has the disease.

The new case raises to three the confirmed cases of swine flu in Virginia.

State Health Commissioner Karen Remley says the student continues to recover well. Officials are not identifying those who have swine flu.

Confirmation has not been received on the second student at the Lexington university.

Remley said state officials are working with the university to prevent spread of the disease.

The state health department's call center will remain open throughout the weekend from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and during weekdays from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. for those who have questions about swine flu. The number is 1-877-ASK-VDH3.
