TWIN QUAKES HIT SOUTH, EAST ASIA
Two potentially destructive earthquakes struck minutes apart in the Indian Ocean and Japan today, generating tsunami alerts for India, Myanmar, Indonesia, Thailand, Bangladesh and Japan.  The larger of the two quakes was a magnitude-7.6 temblor that hit the Andaman Islands in the Indian Ocean, and it was followed less than 15 minutes later by a 6.6-magnitude quake in Japan southwest of Tokyo. THE HEAT IS ON... UNTIL 8PM.
D.C. summers are known for being hazy, hot and humid, but there hasn't been much of that this summer -- until now. The area is under a heat advisory until 8 p.m.  Temperatures will be in the upper 90s. With the humidity, it will feel as though it is 100 to 105 degrees, raising the possibility of heat-related illnesses.   "People are not yet acclimated to heat and humidity," says Dr. Terry Jodrie, an emergency room physician at Washington Adventist Hospital. DON'T ASK HER.  SERIOUSLY.
Poor Hillary.  Two weeks ago she was dissed during a Washington Post attempt at comedy when staffers said on video that the Secretary of State should drink “Mad Bitch” beer. But if you thought getting ripped on by the media might get her hot under the collar, imagine what would happen if a college student insulted her. In a public forum. In Congo, of all places. Let the "Hill-arity" begin. (NBC Washington)

THE HIDDEN DANGER OF OBESITY: GUNS.
An obese inmate in Texas has been charged after officials learned he had a gun hidden in his rolls of fat. George Vera, 25, was charged with possession of a firearm in a correctional facility after he told a guard at the Harris County Jail about the unloaded 9mm pistol.   The Houston Chronicle reported Thursday that Vera was originally arrested on charges of selling illegal copies of compact discs.  (MSNBC)
