26 YEARS LATER, BETHESDA RAPE MYSTERY SOLVED
WTOP: "Montgomery County police have made an arrest in a rape that occurred more than 25 years ago.

Police say an adult female was walking home from her job at the Montgomery Mall in 1984 when she was approached by a suspect near the intersection of Democracy Boulevard and Old Georgetown Road. The woman was beaten and raped."

DEVELOPERS ARE PROCEEDING WITH PLANS TO DEMOLISH HISTORIC CHURCH
Washington Post: "Builders planning to tear down a concrete church after a years-long feud over the historic value of D.C. buildings are moving forward in earnest after a major local developer bought into the property as a partner.

For more than two years, debate raged over the fate of the Third Church of Christ, Scientist after ICG Properties bought it in 2006 and -- with the congregation's support -- planned to tear it down and build a new office building with worship space for the church.

Located two blocks north of the White House at 16th and I streets NW, the church was designed by the firm of architect I.M. Pei in 1971 and is one of a limited number of Washington examples of Brutalist architecture."

MORE NOISE IN BETHESDA AND SILVER SPRING?
Bethesda Patch: "A Montgomery County Council committee today took up a bill that would look at amending noise restrictions for outdoor performances at entertainment venues like Strathmore Hall and in the county's three urban districts – Bethesda, Silver Spring and Wheaton.

The county imposes a noise limit of 65 decibels during the day and 55 at night in residential areas. The original bill arose from concerns that a planned new housing development near Strathmore Hall would incite complaints about outdoor entertainment there. The bill would bump up permissible noise levels outside certain entertainment venues like Strathmore to 75 decibels from 11a.m. to 11p.m., April through October."

MORE PANCAKES AND BURRITOS IN THE DISTRICT
Washington Examiner: "Don't worry — the burritos and pancakes aren't being offered at the same place. Another IHOP and possibly another Chipotle are coming to D.C.

IHOP has announced it plans to open a new location in the District's Columbia Heights neighborhood on Tuesday. It will be the breakfast chain's 1,500 nationwide.

The IHOP is franchised by DC Pancakes LLC, a subsidiary of D.C.-based The Jackson Investment Group, owned by the family that includes Clarence Jackson Jr., a residential developer, and former NFL defensive end Tyoka Jackson."
