COMMUNITY DIVIDED OVER METRO STATION PLANS
Fairfax Times: "Proposed development in Herndon has split one local neighborhood into two factions.

On Monday night, the Town of Herndon conducted a community workshop to discuss a "study area" where development is being planned to accompany the implementation of the Herndon-Monroe Metro station, which is slated to open in 2016.

The station will be built in the median of the Dulles Toll Road, with a pedestrian bridge that will connect the station to Herndon."
 

DC ACTIVATES RED LIGHT CAMERAS ON BUSY ROUTES
WTOP: "Better slow down for that yellow light. Some new red light cameras along busy commuter routes in D.C. are about to start sending fines.

Starting Friday, drivers who get nabbed by one of the electronic eyes will get a $75 ticket in the mail."
 

FENTY'S FREUDIAN SLIP
Washington Examiner: "Lame duck Mayor Adrian Fenty had a bit of a Freudian slip Wednesday morning when introducing Mayor-elect Vince Gray at the groundbreaking for the hotel counterpart to the District’s convention center.

When introducing Gray to the crowd of several hundred, Fenty said, “I couldn’t be happier to turn the government over to…,” then he cut himself short. The crowd laughed and he started over. “I couldn’t be happier to turn the podium over to Mayor-elect Vince Gray.”"
 

POLICE: MINNIE AND FRIENDS BEHIND BARS
Inside NoVA: "The Minnie Mouse mugger and her two cohorts are off the street, according to the police.

Three girls — two 17-year-olds and a 16-year-old — are charged with robbery and two counts each of assault by mob, Prince William County police spokesman Jonathan Perok said.

The teenagers, whose identities weren’t released because they’re juveniles, are accused of attacking two Woodbridge women and robbing one over a span of five minutes Nov. 2, Perok said."
