SEX SHOP PROTEST SATURDAY
Jennifer Basinger said she’s expecting about 50 people to show up at Manassas City Hall on Saturday to rally against an adult store set to open Oct. 20 on Battle Street in Old Town.

She said KK’s Temptations won’t fit in with the historic nature of the area.

“The shop I feel — and many do — is just not consistent with what Old Town is about,” Basinger said. (Inside NoVA)

COULD SOUTHWEST BECOME DC'S NEW DOWNTOWN?
The Southwest Waterfront master plan, released yesterday, adds to an impressive collection of plans and development that could collectively transform the way we think about the area south of the National Mall.

One day, not too many decades from now, Southwest (and Near Southeast) could become a second downtown for DC, as large as the existing downtown area.  (Greater Greater Washington)

CRYSTAL CITY REDEVELOPMENT APPROVED
The Arlington County Board unanimously approved guidelines this week that will steer the redevelopment of Crystal City for the next 40 years by allowing for more density and taller buildings.

The approved framework would see a Crystal City with 60 percent more density than exists today, buildings up to 300 feet tall and an improved street grid with more links to public transportation.

County board chairman Jay Fisette called the guidelines, five years in the making, “an amazing moment and a startling success.” (Washington Post)

2 'RAYS' RESTAURANTS IN ONE BUILDING?
I’ve learned that Michael Landrum has fully executed a deal for the former T-Mobile space at City Vista. Landrum is notable for his Ray’s The Steaks, Ray’s: The Classics and Ray’s Hellburger restaurants. His Ray’s Hellburger Too just a few doors down from the original Hellburger in Rosslyn is coined Ray’s The Game in some circles.

In the past Landrum has been rumored to want to open other concepts including seafood (Ray’s the Catch), and a wine bar (Ray’s the Glass). It’s not clear what concept will arrive at City Vista but it should be a great addition regardless. (MV Triangle)
