A judge has found probable cause for the charges against a teenager accused in a murder believed to have triggered a chain of retaliatory violence in southeast D.C.
Sanquan Carter, 19, is charged with second-degree murder in the March 22 shooting death of Jordan Howe. The next day, Carter's brother, Orlando, was shot. The next week gunmen sprayed bullets into a crowd of people who had just attended Howe's funeral.
Orlando Carter, Nathaniel Simms and a juvenile have been charged in the driveby shooting. Orlando Carter is also charged in Howe's death.
At today's preliminary hearing , D.C. Superior Court, Judge Lynn Leibovitz found prosecutors had enough evidence for the case to proceed and ordered Carter to be held without bond.
Prosecutors also submitted a motion to consolidate the cases.
