Teen Killed in Virginia House Fire

A 14-year-old boy was killed after a fire broke out in his home in Spotsylvania County, Va., Sunday morning.

Spotsylvania County Fire Chief Monty Willaford said the blaze broke out shortly after 4 a.m. By the time crews arrived, the one-story, ranch-style home was fully engulfed, with the windows and doors blown out.

Six people – three adults and three children -- were inside at the time of the fire. Five managed to escape, but the boy did not.

Willaford said his body was found in the living room where the heaviest fire was concentrated. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

The chief said his thoughts go out to the family and fire deaths in his county are unusual.

The identities of those involved have not been released.

Sunday's blaze brings to six the number of people killed in fires in Virginia since Friday.

Police said a woman and two young children died Saturday in an apartment fire in Keswick in Albemarle County.

A house fire in Virginia Beach killed two people and injured four others on Friday night.
