Teen Boy Shot, Wounded in Waldorf by Attackers Who Stole His BMX Bike

A 17-year-old old boy riding his BMX bike on a path in suburban Maryland Tuesday afternoon was shot in the leg and had his bike stolen by two attackers.

The teen was approached by two males about 3 p.m. Tuesday on a dirt path near Allward and St. Pauls drives in Waldorf, a representative of the Charles County Sheriff's Office said. The aggressors demanded the boy's silver and green bike, and then one pulled a gun and shot the teen in the upper leg. 

The victim ran off the trail and flagged down an empty school bus. The driver helped the boy and called for help. The victim was rushed to a hospital via helicopter with a non-life-threatening injury. 

Officials at Eva Turner Elementary School ordered students and staff to shelter in place during the investigation. Police were still investigating and seeking the two suspects Tuesday night.
