Teacher Indicted on Sex Abuse Charges

Two incidents were allegedly rape, and two allegedly happened in a classroom. Now a former high school teacher in Prince George's County has been indicted on several sex abuse charges involving three students.

Brian Gwaltney, 38, of Laurel, Md., worked as a substitute teacher and assistant football coach at Flowers High School in Springdale, Md. According to the Prince George's County State's Attorney Office, Gwaltney is accused of having consensual sex with a 16-year-old student in a classroom, forcing himself on an 18-year-old in her house and also having sex with a 15-year-old in the classroom.

Gwaltney was indicted on one count of child sex abuse, one count of third-degree sex offense, two counts of fourth-degree sex offense and second-degree assault.

He was fired in June when the allegations came to light, according to Flowers High.
