Teacher Accused of Inappropriate Messages With Student

Indecent liberties with a minor charge

A substitute teacher in Prince William County is accused of exchanging inappropriate messages with a student, authorities said.

Richard Earl Teller, 28, of Haymarket, Va., was arrested Tuesday, police said. Teller is accused of having an inappropriate relationship with a 17-year-old female student at Brentsville High School, where Teller was a long-term substitute teacher and head baseball coach.

The communications began in February, authorities said. Investigators did not specify the nature of the messages.

Teller has been charged with taking indecent liberties with a minor by a custodian and the use of a communication system to facilitate certain offenses with a minor. He was being held on $10,000 bond.
