Honest Tea's ‘Honesty Experiment' Comes To D.C.

50 unmanned pop-up stands will be set up in 30 cities

What would you do if you were confronted with an unmanned kiosk full of drinks and a jar asking you to pay one dollar, but there was no one around watching the money? Would you pay anyway? Or would you indulge your devilish side and simply grab and go?

The Bethesda-based organic tea company Honest Tea is conducting its own social experiment to find out just how many people would pay and how many would skimp.

The company set up an unmanned, pop-up stand at the Dupont Circle Farmers Market Sunday. In all, more than 50 locations will be set up in 30 cities around America this coming week.

Data from the experiment will be relased August 20 and will compare different cities as well as different categories of people.
