Tattoo Meeting Leads to Robbery

Tattoo artist's home possibly targeted by robbers

A late-night meeting to discuss tattoos went awry Sunday for residents of a home in Fredericksburg, Va.

Two male residents were first approached Saturday on the sidewalk outside their home on the 200 block of Charles Street by two adult males inquiring about having tattoo work done, according to Fredericksburg Police. One of the residents is a tattoo artist.

At about 10 p.m. Sunday the two potential customers returned to the home to finalize details and agree upon a price for the work to be done, which they did. In addition to the two males in the home there was also a girlfriend, a 1-year-old child asleep in a bedroom and a 4-month-old infant asleep in the living room.

The potential customers left the home to get money for the work, but when they came back they brandished handguns taking the residents hostage, according to police. During the holdup one of the suspects positioned the infant between him and the victims, police said.

The suspects made off with several hundred dollars worth of tattoo equipment, a video game system and games and cash. No injuries were reported.

The suspects are described as follows:
No. 1: light-skinned black male with a heavy build, curly hair and a small amount of facial hair.
No. 2: dark-skinned black male, tall and thin with medium length dreadlocks.

Both suspects were described as in their late teens or early 20s.

Anyone with information should contact Detective Wayne Hunnicutt at 540-654-5753. Callers are not required to give their names.
