Take Metro to the NBC4 Health and Fitness Expo!

Track work poses some changes in Metro operations this weekend

Are you coming to the NBC4 Health and Fitness Expo this weekend? Public transportation is the best way to get there.

The Expo will be held at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center Saturday and Sunday, Jan. 7 and 8. Doors open at 9 a.m. each day; on Saturday, the Expo will be open until 5 p.m. On Sunday, it will be open til 4 p.m.

The closest Metro stop is the Mt. Vernon Square/7th Street Convention Center on the green and yellow lines.

Because of the Metro’s SafeTrack program, there is some track work you will need to dodge. The green line and yellow lines will have trains every 20 minutes starting at 7 a.m. But the yellow line will only operate between Huntington and U Street, so the Metro advises people North of U Street to use the green line.

Trains on the red line will run every 13 to 26 minutes, and the silver line will run every 20 minutes between Wiehle-Reston East and Ballston only. Between McPherson Square and Rosslyn, buses will run in place of the orange and blue lines. Click here for more information on how the Metro will be affected by weekend work.

The Expo will take place on Saturday and Sunday. Click here for complete schedules and hours. We’re excited to see you there!
