Swim Coach Pleads Guilty to Sex Abuse Charge

A Montgomery County swim coach pleaded guilty to a charge he abused one of his students 30 years ago.

The woman, who is in her 30s now, contacted police earlier this year, alleging that Christopher Thomas Huott had molested her several times between January 1984 and September 1989.

On Wednesday, he pleaded guilty to one count of child abuse.

Huott, 53, founded the Maryland Suburban Swim Club in Laurel in 1986.

Court documents allege Huott would have the victim sit on top of him while he inappropriately touched her. He would also touch her while she was showering or sleeping, the documents said.

Huott was arrested back in April on child abuse and sex offense charges. In exchange for his guilty plea, prosecutors will recommend that he not face more than 10 years in prison.

His defense attorney declined to comment on the deal.
