All Clear After Suspicious Package Closed Streets Near National Mall, L'Enfant Metro

L'Enfant Metro Seventh Street entrance reopen

D.C. police gave the all clear Tuesday evening after a suspicious package investigation closed streets in southwest Washington.

Police received a call about a suspicious package in the 600 block of Maryland Avenue SW about 2 p.m., officials said.

The D.C. police bomb squad and D.C. Fire and EMS hazmat investigated and found nothing dangerous at the scene.

Maryland Avenue was closed between Sixth and Seventh streets and westbound D Street was closed to vehicles and pedestrians at Seventh Street druing the investigation.

Due to the police activity, the L'Enfant Metro Station's Seventh Street entrance was blocked, Metro spokesman Dan Stessel said, but it has also reopened.
