Man Shot, Killed in Silver Spring Park

A 22-year-old man was found shot dead in a Silver Spring park Thursday afternoon.

Police came to Edgewood Neighborhood Park at 4:43 p.m., after they received multiple calls reporting that shots were fired in the area.

Police identified the victim as Garrett Alexander McClees. They are investigating his death as a homicide.

Police searched in nearby woods, including using K-9 officers, but no suspect has been located.

The Edgewood Park in the 13900 block of Robey Road in the Briggs Chaney area includes a playground, and McClees' body was found not far from it.

"We could have seen something or ended up getting shot ourselves. That's scary. That's very scary," said Jocelyn Chavarria, who said she won't let her daughter play in the park.

"I live right down the street from that," said Sam Kelly. "I don't want to live in an area where this is going on."
