Suspects Steal $36,000 Worth of Hermès Handbags From DC Consignment Shop

In less than 30 seconds, a group of thieves stole several thousand dollars worth of handbags from a popular upscale consignment store in Washington, D.C.

Surveillance video shows four men wearing dark-colored hooded sweatshirts walk up the stairs at Secondi on Connecticut Avenue NW near Dupont Circle.

One of the suspects quickly shatters a display case with a hammer and another grabs three Hermès bags out of the case.

Two women stood by in shock.

"It was very scary," one employee said. "The scariest part was we heard a bang and we thought it was a gun."

Secondi owner Caitrine Callison says the store just celebrated 33 years of business.

"This is the first time anything like this has happened to us," Callison said.

Callison said an hour before the robbery, the suspects walked through the store and cameras captured their faces.

"Hopefully police are doing their job. I have faith in the DCPD, that they will find these guys," an employee said.
