A man suspected of shoplifting from a discount store in Seat Pleasant, Maryland, has died after an armed employee shot him, police say.
The shooting victim, who police did not identify, was shot inside the Discount Mart store in the 400 block of Eastern Avenue, on the D.C. border, Seat Pleasant police said. Officers responded about 2:20 p.m.
The man was found lying on the floor of the store. He was taken to a hospital, where he died.
It wasn't immediately clear if the man who was shot also was armed, or if the shooter will face any charges.
Prince George's County police will take over the investigation. Officers were speaking to witnesses and reviewing security camera footage.
