Police are looking for the suspect or suspects who fired a BB gun in at least nine separate incidents Sunday night, injuring several people and damaging cars.
None of the victims' injuries were life-threatening, police said.
Most of the incidents took place in a two-hour span Sunday night, although police were not sure exactly when damage was done to a parked police cruiser.
D.C. police didn't have a description of a suspect or suspects, but they have an image of a vehicle of interest. They say a suspect took off in the vehicle after firing a BB gun in the 2800 block of Alabama Avenue SE.
Police detailed the nine incidents as follows:
— A victim was walking in the 3800 block of Minnesota Avenue NE about 8:21 p.m. Sunday when he heard a window break and realized he had been hit by something. The victim's injuries were "consistent with projectiles from a BB gun," police said. He refused medical treatment.
— Then, at about 8:33 pm, a person sitting in a vehicle in the 100 block of 35th Street SE was approached by the suspect vehicle. Police say the suspect brandished a BB gun. The victim sustained non-life threatening injuries and was taken to a hospital.
— A third person was injured at about 8:46 p.m. in the 4800 block of Benning Road SE. A suspect in a vehicle approached the victim and brandished a BB gun and shot toward the victim, police said. The victim was taken to a hospital.
— A fourth person was injured about 9 p.m. in the 2800 block of Alabama Avenue SE. The suspect vehicle approached the victim, and the suspect brandished a BB gun and fired toward the victim, police said. The victim was taken to a hospital. A vehicle of interest was captured by a surveillance camera in that incident.
— About five minutes later, a person was approached by the suspect in the 1300 block of Alabama Avenue SE. The suspect shot the victim with a BB gun and fled the scene, police said. The victim was taken to a hospital.
— About five minutes after that, someone sitting at a bus stop in the 2400 block of Alabama Avenue SE heard a loud noise and felt pain. The victim was taken to a hospital for treatment of injuries consistent with being shot with a BB gun, police said.
— Then, at about 9:38 p.m., a person driving in the 1900 block of 14th Street SE had a car window destroyed by someone firing a BB gun.
— At 10 p.m., two victims were in their vehicles in the 2600 block of Benning Road NE when suspects approached them and brandished an imitation pistol, police said. The suspects then shot at and damaged the victims' vehicle, police said.
— Police also said that sometime between 2:30 p.m. and shortly before 10 p.m. Sunday, the driver's side window of a parked police cruiser was destroyed in the 2400 block of Alabama Avenue SE.
Anyone who has knowledge of these incidents should call police at 202-727-9099 or text their tip to police at 50411. They should not try to take action on their own, police cautioned.
