Students Face Charges After Pulling Gun in Fight

Two Springbrook High School students are facing charges after a gun was pulled during a fist fight behind the school, Montgomery County police said.

Two students were fighting near the school in the White Oak area of Silver Spring, Md., on Thursday when a third student pulled out a gun, police said. That stopped the fight and dispersed the crowd, but police said the student handed the gun to another one of the teens involved in the fight and he chased several students with the gun.

Tavon Body, a 17-year-old student from Burtonsville, was arrested and charged as an adult with assault, reckless endangerment and a weapons offense, police said. He is being held on $5,000 bond.

Police are still looking for 17-year-old Ladonta Wright, also from Burtonsville. He's charged as an adult in an arrest warrant with armed robbery, first-degree assault, robbery, second-degree assault and the use of a handgun in a crime of violence. Police said they believe he is in Virginia. They searched his home Friday.

A code blue was in effect until it was determined the gun and the suspect were no longer on school grounds.
