INDIAN HEAD, Md. -- An 18-year-old high school student is accused of sexually assaulting a girl inside Lackey High School in Charles County.
Anthony Hansley approached the victim in a hallway Wednesday afternoon and lured her into a classroom where he sexually assaulted her, investigators said.
Hansley is a varsity basketball player at Lackey. He's described as being a former friend of the victim, according to investigators. The victim is also a student at the school.
"You feel for both parents, you also feel for the child," said Lackey High School Principal James Short. "But you also understand that as a school, you have to respond to these types of situations."
Hansley is charged with second-degree rape and second-degree assault. He is being held at the county detention center on $150,000 bond.
