Springfield Groper Could Be Responsible for 2 More Assaults

The Fairfax County Police Department is investigating two sexual assaults that occurred within 25 minutes of each other Wednesday in what could be the sixteenth and seventeenth attacks by the Springfield groper.

A 30-year-old woman was groped around 3:10 p.m. Wednesday while walking south on Dinwiddie Street near Dana Avenue. The second incident took place just a few blocks away on Backlick Road near the intersection of Cabin John Road. There, a 25-year-old woman was also groped at around 3:35 p.m.

In both instances, the attacker was described as Hispanic and around 5-feet-6-inches tall, which matches some of the previous descriptions of the Springfield groper, whose record stretches as far back as September 2012.
