Spraying for Mosquitos in Laurel Except for Six Areas

The Maryland Department of Agriculture will be spraying for mosquitoes in Laurel on Sunday, September 20, 2015 at dusk.

Entomologist Jeannine Dorothy, who heads the mosquito abatement program, says they will be concentrating on the area between Gorman Avenue, Main Street, and Sandy Spring Road. The trucks will also be spraying 6th, 7th, 8th, and 9th Streets, West Circle, Montgomery Street, everything east of a section of Sandy Spring Road down to Gorman Avenue and over to Route 1.

Dorothy says Laurel residents need to know that the MDA has six “no spray” orders for that community, and the crews will not be spraying in those areas. She says the orders are generated by residents who request that crews avoid the area around their homes or business for health reasons.

The six “No Spray Areas” are:
• Post Office Avenue and Fahms Avenue
• Prince George Street between 4th and 5th
• 4th Street between Main Street and Montgomery
• Nowhere near Carroll Avenue and 5th Street
• Laurel Avenue between 4th Street and Route 1
• Main Street, Talbott Avenue, Gorman Avenue, or Route 1 (due to traffic and congestion)
