Spotsylvania Child Shot in Drive-By

Bullets struck an 11-year-old boy in his bedroom Sunday morning, apparently fired by someone in a passing car.

Police responded to the scene on the 200 block of Burlington Drive around 3:15 a.m.

The parents had already transported their child to the hospital before deputies arrived.  The child was in stable condition, having suffered gun shot wounds to his side.  Investigators said the bullets were from a small-caliber weapon.

A search of the boy's room revealed three bullet holes through the wall and window facing the road.  The Spotsylvania Sheriff's Office is calling the incident a drive-by.
