Special Needs Dog Gets a New Lease on Life

Alexandria woman coordinates rescue effort

A stray German shepherd is getting a new chance to warm hearts.

The abandoned dog called Prince Fenton is unable to use his back legs, but a volunteer who works with special needs dogs came to his rescue.

Katie Kaiser of Alexandria helped arrange for specially designed wheels to help him walk and found him a temporary home at Hollow Creek Farm, a facility that works with dogs with special needs.

The dog is scheduled to be flown to the farm by Pilots N Paws, a program that helps rescued animals.

Bad weather Friday kept the shepherd from going to the South Carolina facility as originally planned.

Kaiser has set up a website that follows Prince Fenton's adventures and helps pay for his medical care: Operation Save Prince Fenton.

Kaiser hopes that once Prince Fenton learns to use his new wheels, he will be able to be put up for adoption.
