Southwest 7-11 Mainstay Shutting Down

Convenience store used as a grocery stop by many

Residents in Southwest DC won't be saying, 'Oh thank heaven for 7-11!' much longer.  But some in the area might be counting their blessings...

The retail convenience chain's outlet on the corner of M and South Capitol Streets, which was apparently the "second largest grocery store" in the area, will be shutting down within the year, SWDCBlog reported.

Who will fill the space?  Bona fide retail grocer Safeway, which is slated to take over the space in May 2010.
