Soldier From Manassas Dies in Afghanistan

A soldier from Northern Virginia died this week in Afghanistan.

Army Specialist Sean Cutsforth, 22, was killed Wednesday when insurgents attacked his unit in the Ghanzi Province.

Cutsforth grew up in Manassas, and attended Weems Elementary School, Benton Middle School and Brentsville District High School.

His parents told Inside Nova that their youngest son was a talented athlete who had played college baseball. "He felt it was a calling, joining the Army," Robert Cutsforth said of his son.

Sean Cutsforth and his wife Ashley married last summer on July 4. Ashley is expecting their first child, a boy, in April.
