SoberRide Gears Up For Halloween

Free cab rides home for would-be drunk drivers

Nothing’s worse than a drunken fool behind the wheel of car.  Except maybe a drunken fool wearing a costume behind the wheel of a car.

Halloween is right up there with New Year’s Eve and St. Patrick’s Day when it comes to people celebrating with too much alcohol.  That’s why the folks at the Washington Regional Alcohol Program, will provide a free cab ride home for tipsy ghouls, ghosts and goblins.

WRAP's 2010 Halloween SoberRide program will be offered from 10 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 30, to 6 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 31.

To receive a free cab ride, all you have to do is call 800-200-8294 (TAXI) or #8294 (TAXI) on your AT&T wireless phone.

Now some rules.
  • You must be 21 or older to use the SoberRide service.
  • The program pays for fares up to $30. You pick up the tab for anything over that.
  • All requests for SoberRide service must be called to and dispatched from 1-800-200-8294.  (Do not call a taxi company directly for SoberRide service because the ride will not be covered under this program.)
Halloween is scary enough, folks. Don’t drink and drive.
