Snowfall, Too Much; Gas Prices, Just Right

Who wants to drive when you can sit around in your PJs?

OK, so there's maaaaybe one good thing about shivering for hours while shoveling tons of the white stuff: This year's record-breaking snowfalls have had a positive impact on gas prices.

Hey, something had to give, right?

AAA Mid-Atlantic says the average price of a gallon of gasoline fell coast-to-coast for the fifth week in row. Gas purchases nationwide fell 3.7 percent for the week ending Feb. 5, with snowfall the biggest factor in the decline.

However, the current price of a gallon of regular unleaded is still 68 cents higher than a year ago.

AAA Mid-Atlantic spokeswoman Ragina Averella says the bad weather would likely cause many to cancel their travel plans over the three-day weekend, keeping demand low.

Hope you're enjoying your couches, everyone.
