Snow, Cold Prompt Md. Public Transit Changes

The Maryland Transit Administration says commuter rail and bus services to western Maryland and West Virginia are running on reduced schedules due to the cold, snowy weather.

The MARC rail system's Brunswick line is operating on an "S'', or special, schedule Friday. That means only six of the nine westbound trains that normally run out of Washington will operate on Friday afternoon and evening.

MTA commuter bus Route 991, which runs between Hagerstown, Frederick and Shady Grove, is also running on an "S'' schedule.

The MTA says all other commuter bus routes and rail lines are running regular schedules, but warn that delays are possible.

A Metro spokesman says the snow and extreme cold may have contributed to delays on several lines due to disabled or malfunctioning trains.
