News4 has learned Cincinnati Bengals Offensive Coordinator Jay Gruden dined with Redskins General Manager Bruce Allen in Virginia Tuesday.
Gruden, 46, will likely have an official interview Wednesday, making him the sixth coaching candidate Redskins officials have met with.
He's in his third year with the Bengals and is considered by many as one of the hottest coaching candidates in the league.
Jay Gruden has reportedly been interviewed by the Tennessee Titans, and has also drawn interest from the Minnesota Vikings and Detroit Lions. His ties with the Redskins organization run deep -- he has worked with Allen and several other coaches in the past, including defensive coordinator Jim Haslett.
He's the brother of former Oakland Raiders and Tampa Bay Buccaneers coach Jon Gruden, now working as an NFL analyst.
