Site of Four Slayings in Virginia Demolished

A family demolished a Petersburg, Virginia, house where four relatives were slain in April.

Raymond Washington told The Progress-Index the house was a gathering place for the family. The family is searching for relief, he said.

The victims were Washington's aunt, 67-year-old Pauline Wilkins; Wilkins' daughter, 46-year-old Vickie Chavis-Ansar; Wilkins' granddaughter, 22-year-old Tanique Chavis, and Chavis' 2-year-old son, Delvari Chavis.

Authorities discovered the victims' bodies following an April 19 fire at the house. The state medical examiner said Wilkins and Chavis-Ansar died from stab wounds. Chavis and her son died of smoke inhalation.

Authorities are searching for a person of interest in the slayings: 47-year-old Alexander Roosevelt Hill Jr. The U.S. Marshals Service is offering a $10,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of Hill.
