Silver Spring Man Charged in Woman's Death

68-year-old charged with first-degree murder

An 68-year-old Silver Spring man has been charged with first-degree murder in the death of a 62-year-old woman whom he referred to as his wife.

Police were called to the 11400 block of July Drive in the White Oak area of Silver Spring shortly before 3 p.m. Saturday by Henry Gordon Hutchins, who told police that his wife was dead.

Responders found the body of Carol Frances Carter in her bedroom. Carter, who had injuries to her upper body, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The woman's body was taken to Baltimore for an autopsy.

Hutchins is currently being held without bond. A bond review hearing is scheduled for Monday at 1:00 p.m. in Rockville District Court.
