Route 95 Driver Said Shots Fired in MD Road Rage Incident

Police arrest one man

Maryland State Police say a man has been arrested after allegedly firing shots at another vehicle on Interstate 95 near Joppa, north of Baltimore.

Police say 34-year-old Nicholas Heider of Joppa was charged Wednesday with first-degree assault and reckless endangerment.

Authorities say they received a call about 4 p.m. from a motorist who said that another driver had fired possibly three shots in the direction of his vehicle. The victim told police that the incident had resulted from a dispute over right-of-way near Exit 67, and that they had been cutting each other off.

Authorities say the victim gave them the license plate number of Heider's SUV, which they found in the driveway of Heider's home. Police say Heider surrendered to authorities and that a semi-automatic handgun was recovered from his home.
