Authorities have released the name of an Orange County Sheriff's Office investigator who suffered life-threatening injuries in a shooting at his home.
Robert Canosa, 55, is in stable condition at UVA Hospitals in Charlottesville, where he was flown after the shooting, according to Virginia State Police.
The sheriff's office received a call about a shooting just after 6 a.m., state police said. Once deputies discovered the victim was Canosa, they asked state police to take over the investigation.
Canosa's family said he was shot by his wife, the Star Exponent reported.
State police said no charges have been filed and no arrests have been made. Police did not say whether Brenda Canosa is a suspect.
The Canosas have been separated for several months, the Star Exponent reported.
