A local woman took road-rage to a new level when she slashed the face of an unsuspecting motorist and then chased her all the way to the police station -- all with her four-year-old daughter in the car.

Virginia police arrested a 79-year-old registered sex offender. He was charged with inappropriately touching a 15-year-old girl.

The victim told police she was walking to Freedom High School, where she is a student, when James Richard Leonard offered her a ride. According to the girl got in the car and that’s when the incident occurred.

Prince William Police located Leonard’s car near the school a short time later. The Woodbridge resident was arrested and charged with sexual battery.

Jonathan Perok, Prince William police spokesman, says the victim did not know Leonard.

Court records show Leonard has been on the Virginia Sex Offender Registry since August 1998. He was released from prison after serving time for abduction with intent to defile, according to police records.

After Thursday’s arrest, Leonard was released on $5,000 bond.
