Second Arrest in Mysterious Death of Landover Woman

A second person has been arrested in the 2011 disappearance and death of Crystal Anderson, 29, of Landover, Maryland.

The Charles County Sheriff's office has charged Darrayl Wilson with first-degree murder for the death of Crystal Anderson.

In March, Raymond Daniel Posey III, 22, of Nanjemoy, Maryland, also was indicted on first-degree murder charges.

Anderson was last seen in August 2011 at a party in Nanjemoy. Her mother reported the disappearance to the Prince George’s County Police Department, launching a joint investigation with Charles County, which included widespread canvassing and interviewing. Despite efforts, Anderson remained missing for months.

A hiker led to a break in the case in January 2012. He reported finding partial human remains at Purse State Park in Charles County. Detectives and search and rescue dogs scoured the area, recovering further remains and clothing.

In February 2012, the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner of Maryland determined the remains were those of Anderson.

“This was a tough case to investigate, but our detectives and forensics staff never gave up. They worked closely with many resources and kept Crystal’s mother, Angela Anderson, informed almost every step of the way. Although we can’t bring Crystal back, we hope Mrs. Anderson is comforted in knowing that we care,” Charles County Sheriff Troy Berry said.
